Ancient Pathogens
Ancient pathogens. Evidence that can be followed.
Palaeomicrobiology can reconstruct the presence and evolution of pathogens across centuries and millennia. Its conclusions can depend on a long chain of contextual, molecular and computational evidence.
The Ancient BioChain pathogen phase will investigate how provenance can connect archaeological context, sampling, laboratory evidence, authentication, contamination assessment, reference materials, computational processing and subsequent interpretation.
This phase builds directly on the Ancient DNA demonstrator and the underlying Research & Provenance architecture.
