About
The Ancient BioChain is a research initiative of The BioChain. It applies that infrastructure to ancient biological evidence — an unusually demanding provenance problem, in which a single specimen can accumulate a research history spanning decades, institutions and technologies.
The programme begins with ancient DNA and expands into ancient pathogens and connected archaeogenomic evidence. The longer-term objective is to learn how independently verifiable provenance can operate across institutional and technological boundaries — see Research & Provenance for the underlying architecture, and Future Plans for the roadmap.

The BioChain
Ancient BioChain is a full working deployment of The BioChain, built on publicly available ancient DNA and archaeogenomic data so its evidence chains can be checked independently rather than taken on trust. It is operated by BioChain Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16211490). You can view the company’s official filing history on Companies House, and learn more about the wider BioChain platform at thebiochain.com.
